Ronald propels old features into contemporary environments. Inspired by Alexander Kay’s text typeface Ronaldson Old Style (MacKellar, Smiths and Jordan, 1884), it finds the right balance between suppleness and tension, delicacy and punch-cutting detail. Its prominent serifs give it a sharp and mechanic feel (especially in all caps), spicing-up text layouts and identities. While its very thin strokes in Display make it interesting at large scale, in posters or titlings. A two-styles, one-weight typeface at this time, Ronald will eventually be followed by more weights and italics.
